THE FUTURE OF SMART MANUFACTURING
May 17, 2017
1415 N. Cherry Avenue, Chicago, IL 60642
GACC Midwest together with the Federal State of Thuringia and UI LABS will host a half-day conference focusing on the future of smart manufacturing on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
This is part of a German business delegation, headed by Wolfgang Tiefensee, Thuringia’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society, coming to the USA to learn about innovations in US manufacturing.
Due to the importance of manufacturing in the Midwest, manufacturing companies are increasingly trying to stay on top of current market trends and innovations in the industry in order to stay competitive. The ongoing automation of the industrial production (Industry 4.0) opens new business opportunities for companies, especially in the cross-linking of machines to networks, monitoring of industrial facilities (IIoT) and the design of production processes with robotics.
The goal of the half-day conference is to compare and contrast challenges and opportunities in the digitalization of manufacturing plants in the US and in Germany. Attendees will have the chance to learn about topics confronting the manufacturing industries from German and US speakers, including: the future factory, cyber security, predictive maintenance, and additive manufacturing.
